The University of Tulsa is pleased to announce that Cassy Abbott Eng, executive director of the School of Nursing in the Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences, has been elected to serve as president of the Oklahoma Nurses Association. Eng will cast her vision for ONA and advance the mission with the backing of the ONA Board of Directors.

Eng has an extensive background in nursing education, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge, passion, and proven leadership. She served as ONA president-elect (2022-24) and political activities director (2019-21 and 2022-23) and was also involved in the American Nurses Association Advocacy Institute from 2023 to 2024.

At UTulsa, Eng has served as the inaugural dean of online programs, as well as associate dean of academic and student affairs. She has received a Chapman Professorship Award and an Excellence in Mentoring and Advising Award. Eng was also appointed as a member of Leadership OK 2024-25 to offer perspective on health care and higher education.

“I am incredibly honored to serve as the next president of the Oklahoma Nurses Association,” Eng said. “Nurses are the relentless champions for improved health outcomes as well as advancing health care initiatives across Oklahoma. Together, we are the catalysts for a healthier, brighter future for Oklahoma.

“As the executive director of nursing at The University of Tulsa, I will tap into the underutilized resource of student nurses in the pursuit of prevention and early intervention. I truly believe this paradigm can offer significant impact across the state.”
