Dear alumni and friends,
As we embark on a new academic year, we want to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our faculty, researchers and students. This year promises to be another milestone of innovation and excellence, building on the momentum we’ve established.
Over the summer, our community reached significant milestones – restating our commitment to research, community service, and innovation. Faculty in The University of Tulsa’s School of Cyber Studies secured funding by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) on revolutionary research for cyber security. Tandy Endowed Chair Tyler Moore, Ph.D.; Research Assistant Professor Andrew Morin, Ph.D.; and Applied Distinguished Professor Neil Gandal, Ph.D., are working to first quantify systemic cyber risk throughout the United States economy – minimizing systemic risk across multiple industries.
Our students are thriving on the national stage. Five seniors placed second in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) 2025 AgAir Aviation Solutions competition in Palmdale, California, creating a revolutionary drone-powered system that can monitor cattle’s health and improve farm production rates. Under the expert mentorship of Professors Will LePage and Marie Moran, this team demonstrated preparation that defines our programs.
Beyond research and competition, our graduates are making meaningful contributions here in the Tulsa community. Recent graduate Chris Hopton collaborated with University School to develop a computer engineering course for eighth grade students. The course introduced engineering theories, sparking interest in the field. These acts of community service by our students show our mission at work in the community.
As this academic year begins, we extend our deepest gratitude to The University of Tulsa community. Your dedication to excellence, innovation and service continues to inspire and drive our collective success. Here’s to another year of transformative impact and achievement!
Warm regards,
