Students from The University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business recently traveled to New York City for an immersive learning experience. Led by Associate Dean Tally Ferguson, the trip connected classroom learning with real-world business insight. Students gained firsthand exposure to global industries and met alumni shaping top organizations worldwide.
Participants visited Meta, JPMorgan, Bloomberg, Annaly Capital Management, CME Group and Columbia Business School. At each site, they engaged with professionals across finance, technology and innovation. The visits demonstrated how the business principles the students are learning in Tulsa apply in today’s competitive global economy.
“The experience really brought classroom concepts to life,” said finance senior Bryson Crow. “Throughout the tours and conversations, I kept hearing terms and principles that I’ve studied. It was eye-opening to see how those ideas are applied in real-world settings.”
For finance senior Anna Boevers, the trip emphasized the value of a UTulsa education and its alumni network. “We heard from speakers who used concepts I’m currently learning in my classes. It was amazing to see how strategies and ideas translate to daily work,” she said. “Hearing from alumni who love their jobs was incredibly motivating.”
Students also attended dinners and informal gatherings with UTulsa alumni across the city, discussing leadership, career paths and professional growth in an open setting.
“This experience helped me see how careers evolve over time,” Boevers said. “It showed that growth often comes from exploring new opportunities.”
