
The College of Engineering & Computer Science at The University of Tulsa is launching a Bachelor of Science in applied data science in sports and human performance, an innovative interdisciplinary program and among the first of its kind in Oklahoma.
The program provides undergraduates with a strong foundation in data-centric inquiry, equipping them to apply mathematical and scientific principles to challenges in sports and human performance. Students gain practical experience in statistical analysis, data analytics and modern computational tools through hands-on, experiential learning.
This highly interdisciplinary degree integrates core data science coursework, including data curation, data visualization and database systems with domain-specific study. Students take courses in sports industry and management through the Collins College of Business along with kinesiology and human performance through the Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences.
A defining feature of the program is its emphasis on experiential learning. Through a required practicum, students collaborate directly with UTulsa’s NCAA Division I athletics programs, applying technical skills in real-world sports performance and analytics environments.
