More than 30% of these new students are National Merit Scholars. That’s the most per capita in the United States. Among all 2024 Oklahoma National Merit Semifinalists, 25% are enrolled at UTulsa.

“We are pleased to have such a large class starting their academic journey at The University of Tulsa. When some colleges struggle to build a robust student body, we are proud to offer the holistic education that future leaders and their families seek,” said President Brad Carson. “Our campus nourishes the intellectual appetite through challenging coursework, research opportunities, and experiential learning. However, we also encourage students to learn more about themselves and their place in the world through extracurricular activities, civic engagement, and supportive resources.”

Of those, Texas sent the most new students to UTulsa. The class of 2028 also is UTulsa’s most diverse first-year class, with 43% self-identifying as multicultural.

This fall’s incoming students are the most academically advanced in UTulsa history with an average ACT score of 30. Among new UTulsa students, 34% are enrolled in the College of Engineering & Computer Science and 30% in the Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences. Kendall College of Arts & Sciences is home to 21%, while Collins College of Business has registered 15% of new undergraduates. Those numbers may fluctuate as “undecided” students try new classes, join clubs, and explore career paths.

UTulsa also expects more than 90 transfer students for fall 2024. Meanwhile, the Graduate School welcomes 150 new master’s and 80 new doctoral students from 40 countries. The College of Law has 86 new students from 12 states enrolled for fall, as well.

Real estate, public health, cannabis studies, and historical trauma & transformation are new minors. The university also now offers master’s degrees in energy transition and nursing, as well as a new certificate in the doctor of nurse practitioner program.
