The University of Tulsa announced Tuesday that Ron H. Walker has been appointed dean of the Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences, effective Jan. 1, 2026. He succeeds Susan Pepin, who has served as dean since 2024.

Walker has held numerous leadership roles at the university since joining the faculty full time in 2005. He has served as interim dean of Oxley College and associate dean for administration. He also served as director of UTulsa’s Master of Athletic Training program, the University Center for Academic Advising and the Center for Career Development and Professional Engagement.

“As a proud alumnus and longtime faculty member of The University of Tulsa, I’m honored to serve as the next Thomas E. Oxley Dean of the College of Health & Natural Sciences,” Walker said. “I have been fortunate to witness the transformative power of this university, and I’m committed to supporting our world-class faculty, strengthening our partnerships and continuing to empower students to make lasting impacts in their disciplines.”

Walker earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UTulsa and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University. He has received numerous university awards, including the Outstanding Teacher Award, as well as many professional service awards, including the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award and the Board of Certification’s Dan Libera Service Award. He was inducted into both the Oklahoma and Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association halls of fame.

“Ron Walker exemplifies the values of leadership, service and student-centered excellence that define The University of Tulsa,” said Provost Jennifer Airey. “His vision for Oxley College will advance our mission to prepare graduates who are innovators in their fields and make meaningful contributions to their communities.”

The university thanked Sue Pepin for her service. During her tenure, the college introduced impactful new academic programs and further fostered a culture of collaboration.
