Dear colleagues,

Faculty and students have returned from spring break, and we are energized to continue the important work taking place across the College of Engineering & Computer Science.

Among our students, exciting research is underway. Doctoral mechanical engineering student Bradford Kerst (B.S. ’18, M.S. ’20) is developing a robotic device to help patients improve head and neck control. Working with Professor Joshua Schultz, Kerst has launched the startup Auximotus and was selected for the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program, which helps accelerate promising research toward real-world impact.

At The University of Tulsa’s Oklahoma Cyber Innovation Institute (OCII), key staff members are helping shape the future of cybersecurity through education, research and workforce development. Each brings unique experiences to advancing cyber innovation, from hands-on student research and statewide education initiatives to protecting critical infrastructure. Together, their work highlights OCII’s growing impact in strengthening Oklahoma’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Looking ahead, we are excited to host the university’s second National Academy of Engineering member-led event on April 30, bringing together global leaders to discuss topics in subsurface engineering, energy and beyond. The event opens on April 29 with a welcome banquet keynote from former H&P CEO John Lindsay, followed the next day by keynote speaker Chad Zamarin, CEO of Williams. We hope to see you there.

Regards,
Andreas A. Polycarpou
