The Oxley College of Health & Natural Sciences at The University of Tulsa celebrated the achievements of its faculty, staff and students at the annual Oxley Awards Ceremony. The event recognized exceptional contributions across teaching, research, service, academics and clinical practice.
Awards were presented in three categories: Faculty, Staff and Graduating Undergraduate Students. Below is a full list of this year’s honorees.

Faculty Awards
Excellence in Teaching Award
Charles Brown, Ph.D., Department of Biological Sciences, received the Excellence in Teaching Award. Brown was also recognized as a recipient of the 2026 University Outstanding Teaching Award, the university’s highest teaching honor, reflecting his distinguished impact in the classroom.
Angus Lamar, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, also received the Excellence in Teaching Award, recognizing his sustained commitment to educational excellence.
Rising Star Teaching Award
Meredith Wasson, Department of Kinesiology and Rehabilitative Sciences, earned the Rising Star Teaching Award, honoring her early-career teaching excellence and promise as an educator.
Sima Jonusaite, Ph.D., Department of Biological Sciences, was also presented with the Rising Star Teaching Award for her outstanding contributions to teaching since joining the college.
Outstanding Research Awards
Jennifer Stewart, Ph.D., Laureate Institute for Brain Research, received the Outstanding Senior Faculty Research Award in recognition of her significant and sustained contributions to scientific research.
Angus Lamar, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, also received the Outstanding Senior Faculty Research Award, making him a double honoree.
Alex Kingston, Ph.D., Department of Biological Sciences, received the Outstanding Junior Faculty Research Award, honoring her significant research achievements as an early-career faculty member.

Outstanding Staff Award
Alysa Perez, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was honored with the Outstanding Staff Award for her exemplary contributions to the college’s mission and operations.

The evening’s most distinguished recognitions, the Dean’s Excellence Awards, were presented to one outstanding student and one outstanding faculty member.

Madalene Baehler, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Baehler received the Dean’s Excellence Student Award. This is the college’s highest student honor that recognizes her exceptional academic record, service, research and clinical achievement throughout her time at the Oxley College.
Samantha Beams, Associate Dean and Interim Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Rehabilitiative Sciences. Beams received the Dean’s Excellence Faculty Award. This is the college’s highest faculty honor, recognizing her extraordinary leadership, teaching and service to the Oxley College community.
