The Center for Real Estate Studies at The University of Tulsa continues to expand opportunities for students to connect classroom theory with industry experience.
This spring, more than 70 faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends gathered to celebrate Larry Wofford, as the 2025 recipient of the American Real Estate Society’s prestigious Graaskamp Award, honoring his extraordinary contributions to the field of real estate.
Students also had the chance to apply their learning in the field. At Prime Craftsman Homes in Skiatook, founders Amanda and Jake Thompson led a site tour through homes in various stages of construction and shared their mission to expand access to affordable, high-quality housing. A visit to the Gilcrease Museum redevelopment provided insight into the complexities of special-use development, with Executive Director Brian Whisenhunt and Flintco representatives discussing the project’s civic and cultural significance, and UTulsa’s central role in its future.
In a major milestone, the center took its first-ever trip to ICSC Las Vegas, the world’s largest commercial real estate conference. Students spent three packed days learning from professionals in retail development and investment and logged over 65,000 steps along the way.
This summer, faculty members Cayman Seagraves and Meagan McCollum are leading a Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) project with 11 students focused on housing policy in Tulsa, offering hands-on, community-driven research opportunities.
From celebrating leaders in the field to giving students the tools and access to become them, the Center for Real Estate Studies is proud to prepare the next generation of real estate professionals.
