The University of Tulsa’s commitment to serving student veterans and their families has earned national recognition from Military Friendly with two distinctions for 2026-27: Military Friendly School (Gold) and Military Spouse Friendly School (Designated).

“We are deeply honored to be designated as a Military Friendly School again,” said Director of Veterans Affairs Cindy Watts. “It is my pleasure to serve veterans and military-connected students as they pursue their academic and professional goals.”

Military Friendly has spent more than two decades highlighting institutions that go beyond standard practices to provide meaningful assistance to service members, veterans and their families. The organization’s assessment is determined through a rules-based algorithm, designed to help military students make informed decisions concerning their education.

UTulsa focuses on creating meaningful educational pathways and spaces for the military community. The University of Tulsa proudly participates in the Yellow Ribbon program, an addition to the Post-9/11 GI Bill® that provides full tuition to qualified veterans, while the Calvin C. McKee Student Veterans Center offers an on-campus lounge area for student veterans to relax, study and connect.

The university is also home to one of the nation’s strongest chapters of the Student Veterans of America.

Through consistent support, tailored resources and a student-centered approach, The University of Tulsa remains committed to empowering the military student body as they pursue both career and academic success.

“This achievement belongs to our student veterans and families, whose dedication and resilience inspire everything we do,” Watts said.
