UTulsa business faculty contribute to top academic journals

At The University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business, our faculty are shaping conversations that matter: from boardrooms to highways, from global markets to community safety.

Cayman Seagraves, Ph.D. and co-authors reported in “Journal of Law and Economics” that firms connected to scandal-tainted politicians experience significant market losses, highlighting the often-overlooked cost of political ties. Tatiana Salikhova, Ph.D., in her forthcoming “Journal of Business Finance and Accounting” article, shows how personal networks between division leaders in large corporations improve funding decisions, increase firm value and reduce questionable accounting.

In the “European Accounting Review,” Huy Do, Ph.D. and collaborators found that analysts who ask original questions during earnings calls uncover more valuable and diverse information, demonstrating the power of curiosity. Ismail Abdulrashid, Ph.D. and Wen Chiang, Ph.D., in “Transportation Research Part E,” developed an AI-driven tool to identify causes of severe crashes in supply chain transport. In a separate study, they examined how COVID-19 reshaped accident patterns, offering insights to improve road safety in future crises.

Brian Chabowski, Ph.D., writing in the “Journal of International Business Studies,” synthesized global research on sustainable business model innovations, providing a roadmap for companies to thrive while contributing to the circular economy.

Across these diverse projects, our faculty are advancing research that is adding new knowledge to how we do business and making it a force for good. At the Collins College of Business, we are proud to belong to a body of scholars whose ideas shape the future every single day.
